FEBRUARY 14, 2011 -- Amelia (Lucenti) Anastasio, 93, of Manchester, wife of the late Dominic T. Anastasio, passed away at Vernon Manor surrounded by her family on Monday, Feb. 7, 2011. She was born Aug. 29, 1917, in New Britain, daughter of the late Nunzio and Nicholetta (Marinelli) Lucenti and had resided in Manchester since 1952.
Mrs. Anastasio was employed at Crestfield Rehabilitation Center and the Laurel Manor Living Center in Manchester until her retirement in 1980. She was a longtime communicant of St. James Church in Manchester, a member of the Manchester Senior Center, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Manchester Grange.
Mrs. Anastasio is survived by her two daughters, Katherine Kamerer of South Windsor and Jacqueline Owen, and her husband, Fred, of Waterboro, Maine; her son, James Anastasio, and his wife, Margaret, of South Windsor; five grandchildren, Leslie Owen of Addison, Ala., Jennifer Owen of Waterboro, Bryan Owen, and his wife, Michelle, of Park City, Utah, Airman David Anastasio at Shepards Air Force Base, Texas, and Kevin Anastasio of South Windsor; three great-grandchildren, Dominique, Carson, and Bodie Owen. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her two sisters, Marion Dagata and Lucy Mucci.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Vernon Manor for all their wonderful care of Amelia.
Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 14, at 9:15 a.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. James Church, 896 Main St., Manchester. Burial will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
