Riverton Grangers remember Dorothy Cappabianca

Dorothy L. Cappabianca, 92, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012 at her home.

She was the wife of the late Vincent Cappabianca who died in 1997. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Feb. 21, 1920 Dorothy moved to Riverton with her family at age 3 because of respiratory problems. She remained there for the rest of her life.

Prior to her retirement, she had worked for the Hitchcock Chair Co. for several years. She was a graduate of The Gilbert School, was a Boy Scout and Girl Scout Leader, member of the Riverton Fire Dept. Auxiliary, the Riverton Grange, Riverton

Congregational Church and the Barkhamsted Sr. Center. Dot loved anything to do with nature and enjoyed feeding all the wildlife that came to her house.

Her survivors include three children, Beverly Stone and her husband Rodney, Frank Cappabianca and his wife Margaret all of Barkhamsted and Debra Holmes and her husband Bob of Winsted; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, James and Michael Cappabianca and a grandson James Cappabianca.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Maloney Funeral Home 55 Walnut Street, Winsted, with the Rev. Susan Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Riverton Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
